About Fringe

RAdelaide Fringe is the biggest arts festival in the Southern Hemisphere! For 31 magical summer days and nights, Fringe transforms Adelaide and greater South Australia. Our festival stretches from Whyalla all the way across the state to Naracoorte, with eclectic and vibrant events that include cabaret, theatre, comedy, circus, music, visual arts, workshops and so much more.

Adelaide Fringe was born in 1960 and has grown year on year. In 2021, within a COVID world, we were able to sell an astonishing 632,667 tickets.

Our audiences range from 1 to 100+ years old, and come from all walks of life. This variety also pertains to our diverse array of artists and venues, which are at the heart of everything we do. We truly are ‘The People’s Festival’.

We are a not-for-profit, open access festival. This means that anyone can register an event in Adelaide Fringe! Whether you’re putting on a modestly-budgeted, dugong-themed cabaret gig in your Mum’s garage or you’re selling out spiegeltents with your high flying circus act—Fringe welcomes you with open arms!
Non-curated shows

Adelaide Fringe is an open-access festival which means we don’t program or “choose” artists or venues, they choose us! Whether an event is big and extravagant or quiet and intimate, Adelaide Fringe offers the platform to have work seen.

Fringe brings together 6000+ independent artists in 300+ venues across South Australia, collectively putting on over 1200 shows. We’ve had every type of experience you can think of.

Not-for-profit organisation

Adelaide Fringe is a not-for-profit organisation with a voluntary board. Adelaide Fringe is dedicated to putting more money back into every artist’s pocket and will continue to lobby government and work with out partners to promote, invest in and support the Arts.

Thank you

A part of the cultural fabric of South Australia since 1960, we’ve been here to provide a ticketing platform, resources and support for the artists, venues, producers and audiences who make our festival possible. Fringe wouldn’t happen without them.

We also wouldn’t be here without the support of our Partners and Donors, and those who support us by buying Adelaide Fringe merchandise or becoming a Fringe Member.
